Exclusive Honors College Scholarships

In addition to all the wonderful scholarship offered by Oakland University, Honors College students have many more exclusive scholarships that are available.  The Student Financial Services department manages all scholarships that are Honors College exclusives except those that are awarded directly by The Honors College (listed below).  Please refer to the related tabs for more information.  

  • The Pescovitz Presidential
  • Moceri
  • Donna & Walt Young Study Abroad

Platinum Presidential Scholarship recipients are eligible for the Pescovitz Presidential Scholarship. Selected students will receive a "top up" to a four-year, full-tuition scholarship. Through this significant investment, OU and the Honors College aim to develop a diverse and multidisciplinary group of future leaders that will address our country’s biggest questions and solve our most daunting challenges.

In addition to receiving OU’s most considerable merit scholarship, Pescovitz Presidential Scholars receive four years of enhanced mentoring from faculty and the dean of the Honors College. Throughout their time at OU, they participate in unique co-curricular experiences designed to help them develop as leaders, researchers, and engaged citizens.

Selection Criteria & Application Process:

  • Must be an existing Platinum Presidential Scholar Award recipient
  • Must be enrolled in The Honors College
  • Must apply for the scholarship (see below).

Note:  Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis.  The Honors College Scholarship Committee will review and award scholarships throughout the year.

Study Abroad Scholarship Opportunity

Thanks to the generous support of Mr. Walt and Mrs. Donna Young,  The Honors College offers study abroad scholarships to any student who will have a sophomore, junior or senior standing at the time of travel.  The Study Abroad Scholarship is offered three times a year (depending on time of travel) and is a one time award, per student.

Selection Criteria & Application Process

  • Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in The Honors College.
  • Must have a sophomore, junior or senior standing at the time of travel. 
  • Must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA at the time of the application.
  • Must be willing to communicate with the donors about the impact of the experience (arranged by The Honors College)
  • Preference will be given to Honors College students who exhibit leadership and involvement in the Honors College.

Application for the Study Abroad Scholarship

Application Deadlines: 

  1. March 15: for Summer travel
  2. April 15: for Fall travel
  3. October 15: for Winter travel

Moceri Scholars

This opportunity provided by the Moceri family is another significant step in building upon what is already known about Oakland University.  Junior and Senior standing students of the Honors College selected as Moceri Scholars will “embrace and pursue the three leadership qualities of empathy, collaboration and vision when considering our future national and global economic, social and individual successes,” according to Honors College Dean Graeme Harper.

Those chosen for the Moceri Scholars program will be selected according to academic merit, evidence of visionary and aspirational thinking, and commitment to helping others.  They will host visiting speakers and hold discussion events on key global, national and local themes. There will be research and social entrepreneurship opportunities, project explorations, and workshops.

The Honors College Scholarship Coordinator can not only connect you with faculty experienced with working on such scholarships but also assist students the application process, writing first-rate personal statements, impressive grant proposals and, preparing for scholarship interviews.  It is important to note that these scholarship and internship opportunities have national and international significance.  

Starting the process early will allow students the time to identify the opportunities available and strengthen relationships along the way that will have a significant impact on the student's future.
